March 12th - Ivy League Men's Basketball Championship Game

The Princeton Alumni Association of Eastern Connecticut is pleased to host all Princetonians who attend the Championship game vs Harvard this Saturday at 4pm. The winner receives the Ivy League's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament!!

Regardless of the outcome of the playoff game, both teams have already won an Ivy League championship, which Princeton clinched with the win over Penn Tuesday night. It is Princeton's 26th Ivy title, the most of any Ivy League team. The teams split their regular-season meetings on February 4th at Princeton and March 5th at Harvard, each team winning on their home floor. This will be the first time in the 110-year history of the Princeton-Harvard series that the teams will meet on a neutral court. Princeton will be the designated home team for the playoff.

Tickets:

It appears that all reserved seating tickets have been sold, with standing room only available- and only from the Yale Ticket Office and can be only purchased in person (they only had 55 left at 1pm 3/10). Both Harvard and Princeton athletic offices are sold out of ALL tickets. However, Gilles Carter '80 has also purchased standing room tickets at $20 and will sell them at that price while they last. Parking:

Jay Pottenger '71 shares that parking will be a challenge, although the Yale lots adjacent to the Payne Whitney Gym (interactive map below) will be open - and free of charge. There is no nearby parking garage, and the afternoon tip-off should ensure that none of the downtown New Haven garages would be closed before (even) post-game "celebrations" (we hope) have concluded. There will be metered street parking ($1.50 per hour), and there is a surface pay lot around the corner from the gym, on Broadway (in front of the former Yale COOP, now a Barnes & Noble).

Post-Game Celebration:

Immediately after the game, join fellow Tigers at Yorkside Pizza, 288 York Street (100 yards from the gym) where will enjoy a pay-for-yourself pizza and beer bust.

Alternative:

Dave Thom '96 informs us that the game will be on ESPN3.com. This is not available on cable (only on the internet) but it works very well. You need a user account and password from a local cable provider or XBox live to make it work - go to ESPN3.com and try it out.
